Two weeks ago we were arriving into Denver, ecstatic to be greeted by drizzly rain and light snow. Excited for a couple days of relaxation, sight-seeing, and spending time with friends. Maybe more excited to vacation without our 18 kids in tow. Shhh.
We woke up the first morning to cold weather, which made us Zonies so happy. We also awoke to our friends who'd arrived in the middle of the night from Chicago. They maybe weren't as happy for the cooler weather but they were much more prepared than the rest of us.
It's been said that the best nights are when you're having too much fun to take pictures. Well, for me, considering our trip was 4 days long, there are not many pictures on my phone to share. And for that, I am thankful because its true, we had some of the best nights on this trip.
That day we headed to downtown Denver, strolled the streets a bit before eating lunch then headed to a local brewery. Touring the brewery was such a great learning experience and enjoyable even for a non-beer drinker.
Fort Collins was next on the agenda. What a beautiful town, it reminded me of Flagstaff and the Midwest. So green, so plush and such a college town vibe. And no, that's not a reference to legalized marijuana.

We sipped and strolled while covering a lot of ground. The beautiful part was the speed at which we moved. Slowly, taking our time, enjoying hard core laughter as we prepared for our next adventure, the adventure that sparked our trip...an ASU game in Boulder.
We woke up on game day after a great night's sleep -- without interruption or an alarm -- to warmer weather. We visited an adorable local coffee house for breakfast but stuck out like a sore thumb.
Not sure why...
We arrived in Boulder, greeted more friends and found sunshine on a rooftop patio to tailgate. It was the perfect atmosphere. Surrounded by dear friends, friends who are compatible to travel with, friends who relax at our same speed and are flexible.
On Sunday, we went to Mass followed by a delicious brunch as we sat on a patio with gorgeous mountains as the backdrop. There was a breeze in the air, football on all the surrounding screens and a Bloody Mary bar...I mean, what could be better on a Sunday afternoon?
These three guys did everything to make the trip awesome. They did all the planning, made all the reservations and mapped out the details. In all seriousness, we ladies didn't do anything but enjoy ourselves.
This picture makes me laugh. At this point, every one was cranky and hot. We were a single file mess of bitterness.
So thankful for the perfect vacation. So thankful for our many adventures together. So thankful for all the grandparents who endured their grandchildren for many days. So thankful for cooler weather because when we got home we walked into a 90 degree house and a broken A/C. A total buzz kill to one perfect vacation. It was like reality slapped us across the face with a $500 wet glove. But even the air conditioner situation didn't keep us from laughing as we fell asleep (sweating) recalling all the great memories made and watching the Devils beat the Buffs late into the night.
Another road trip done successfully.
Well done, boys.
P.S. Let's start planning next year's trip.
